The following are recent events making news in Daugherty Township.

2008-03-12:
What you need to know: - A Citizen Advisory Committee made up of your neighbors spent 18 months developing and writing this ordinance in accordance to DEP Regulations.
- Requires property owners to pump their septic system within one (1) year of the effective date of the ordinance.
- If a property owner can prove that their septic tank has been pumped within four (4) years of the sixth month anniversary date of the effective date of the Ordinance, then the initial required pumping may be delayed to conform to the general four-year frequency requirement.
- Requires property owners to pump their septic system at a minimum regular interval of once every four (4) years from the initial pumping and to maintain service receipts from the septic hauler for the life of the septic system.
- Only after sufficient notice to the property owner, the Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO) is authorized to inspect any septic system provided that he/she has sufficient evidence that a malfunctioning on-lot sewage disposal system exists, such as a complaint from a neighbor, or where a malfunction can be easily observed from a public street or right-of-way.
- Requires property owners to produce and submit to the SEO maintenance records and/or service receipts after receiving notice of a system malfunction.
- The Ordinance was adopted by the Board of Supervisors at their March Regular Meeting, Wednesday March 12, 2008.

2007-12-31:
At a their Regular Meeting on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, the Board of Supervisors voted to set the 2008 tax rate at 8.5 mills, an increase of 2 mills. At a Special Meeting on Monday, December 31, 2007, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Final FY08 Budget. The Board of Supervisors last voted to raise real estate taxes on December 8, 1989 when they raised the tax rate from 5 mills to 6.5 mills.
2007-12-12:
The Daugherty Township Volunteer Fire Department has been selected to receive the FY 07 Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $48,865.00 from the Departmnent of Homeland Security. The grant award will be used to purchase new VHF high band radios and pagers for the department. The grant application was jointly prepared by Chief Krut and Manager Lodovico. This grant award represents the singlemost largest dollar amount ever secured for the department for an equipment purchase. Daugherty Township has committed $2,572.00 in local matching dollars for the purchase.
